This unit will cover the ecological processes that drive temperate and tropical marine communities, and the quantitative methods used to describe them. Students will acquire practical skills in developing hypotheses and research questions, collection of field data, and the various univariate and multivariate analyses used to measure ecological data. There will be particular emphasis on long-term monitoring and experimental design and how these are used to measure natural and anthropogenic disturbances.
